Exousia was founded in 2008, originally as MyKids Australia, in an effort to secure a brighter future for the children under the care of Andrews Youth Development Center (AYDC). During our time working with AYDC we began to uncover a deep passion for the education of the  Myanmar people.

We realised that education can truly transform a person, a community and in time a nation. Therefore we have expanded our mission to address one of the root causes of poverty – lack of education and knowledge.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world!

Health Project

We began our first community seminar on Household Nutrition and First Aid in 2011 and with such an encouraging response, we knew we had to do more.

Over the last 6 years we have seen more than 2500 people, including almost 1000 nursing students, go through our nutrition and first aid training program.  Which is more than we could have ever dreamed of.

So why are nurses so important to our project? Nurses in rural Myanmar are on the front line of healthcare as they are often the only source of support and care for hours on motorbike.  Equipping them means that rural communities across the country have access to the essential knowledge they need to prevent chronic debilitating diseases.

Education Project

Our new education project is currently in it’s final stages of development. Through this brand new scholarship program we will directly reduce poverty and school absenteeism by providing qualifications in early childhood and education to underprivileged parents. Through this program parents can gain better employment and allow them to keep their children in school, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.

The Team

We bring together a team that comes from diverse backgrounds and experiences and we partner with some amazing organisations here in Australia and abroad.  People are core to our organisation and with volunteers, like yourself, we can create waves of impact across the nation of Myanmar.

If you want to know more about volunteering with Exousia pop your details in the form on our Volunteering With Us page and we’ll send you an info pack.
